Sleep Apnea a Chronic Condition of Breathing

Sleep apnea is a disorder in which a person takes pauses in breathing or shallow breaths, while he is asleep. These pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. It disturbs the sleep and breathing routine of body. The frequent episode of apnea causes the severe deficiency of oxygen in the blood and you cannot sleep properly. The poor quality sleep in the night time makes you tired during the day and you feel lethargic.

A paused breathing is known as ‘apnea’ and shallow breathing events known as ‘hypopnea’. Sleep apnea cannot be diagnosed by lab or blood tests and often goes undiagnosed. Usually there are certain symptoms such as, snoring, tiredness in the day and not having proper sleep can indicate the sleep apnea. Usually, family members are the first to notice the condition.

There are three major types of sleep apnea, Obtrusive, Central and Mixed. The obtrusive is a common type of sleep apnea which caused by the dysfunction of the respiratory tract. The airway becomes blocked or collapsed causing the person to take shallow breathing. Our when a person use force to take a deep breath, it occurred with the loud snoring.  The central apnea occurs due to the brain signal do not send the message to breathing to the respiratory muscles and they take a pause in the breathing. The mixed apnea is a combination of the both obtrusive and central, and it is very rare.

It can be treated by the medicine and surgery based on the diagnosis of the condition. The best sleep apnea Torrance medical institutes contain state of the art facility to treat this chronic condition.
